Home to pioneer schoolmaster, Eugene Magevney, this charming cottage built in 1836 offers a glimpse into the lives of early Memphis families. Magevney, an Irish immigrant, built this small cottage in the 1830s, when Memphis was a frontier town of 700. One of the city's oldest residences, Magevney house still maintains the garden and grape arbor of Mary Smith Magevney and is furnished in the simple style of this philanthropic family.
